About the author:

Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Meredith Hodges is the daughter of Peanuts creator Charles M. Schulz and Windy Valley Mule Ranch founder Joyce Doty.

As a young girl Meredith loved horses, but her mother’s interest in mules was catching and shortly after going to work at her mother’s ranch, Meredith came down with a case of “mule fever” she’d never kick. That was more than 35 years ago.

Today Meredith is widely recognized as the leading authority on mules and donkeys. Her dedication and determination have raised mules’ standing in the equine world and, due in large part to her entrepreneurial and philanthropic efforts, longears, as they’re affectionately called, are now more popular than ever.
