The Last Lipizzan
The Last Lipizzan
by Dr Jude Arnold
Deep in the rugged and lush Ozarks we flourished.
The ideal horse-raising conditions of Austria, where the Lipizzaners came from, are duplicated in Arkansas.
In pastures of rocky soil with plenty of room, the young horses ran free and developed strong bodies and sensible minds.
Arkansas was the ideal place and Circle 7 did it right.
With over 30 breeding stock, Annie Arklie became the most successful Lipizzan breeder and recognized as one of this country’s foremost experts on rare horses.
Circle 7 Lipizzaners were the only herd in the state and the 2nd or 3rd largest in the US.
I personally gave Annie 7 fine babies.
I LOVED BEING A WONDERFUL MOM.
Raised naturally with the herd, all of my children grew to be strong, athletic and intelligent, maturing to over 16 hands tall.
Bahana, my first foal and the first foal born at Circle 7 Ranch, competed against the world’s top Lipizzaners,
was judged by the head of the Spanish Riding School of Vienna
and won the Reserve Champion Lipizzan Mare title in 1987.
In 2004 my 3rd foal, Conversano Beladonna II is 20 years old and the star
of the World Famous Lipizzaner Stallions World Tour.
