RoadApples

Roadapples, horse apples or pony poop we horsemen deal with it on a daily basis. This book offers a fun perspective on what accumulates in our horses paddock.

RoadApples

by Charlotte Godfrey

I learned to communicate in a different language with the animals and their owners. Yep, that's right...I got weird. This little book is the result of my ruminations while mucking. It explores the lighter side of horse ownership and stable management. It is funny because it's also true. Non-horse owners will appreciate it. Reading level depends upon the child, but roughly 10-12 years old to really old, like me!

About the author:

Charlotte Godfrey's first horse was her Grandpop's mule, Maggie, who she jumped bareback - until Pop found her on the ground after jumping an obstacle under Granny's wire clothesline. When he discovered that she wasn't decapitated, he forbade her to jump and bought her a horse who tried to kill her in other ways. That horse, who knew several ways of getting rid of children, taught her about self-preservation and confirmed in her a life-long love of horses and dressage...

Her next horse, after a child, college, marriage, divorce and re-marriage (in that order, but repeat a few steps...) was a Quarter Horse named Oliver, who was obtained by black-mailing her husband and threatening the owner. After Charlotte added 2 more horses to the board bill, her husband decided that it would be cheaper and more tax-advantageous to buy property and build their own boarding stable! He built a barn, purchased a horse trailer, dug a pond, constructed an outdoor arena, an indoor arena, more stalls...and so on...

Running a boarding stable proved to be such a delightful way to loose money that, after her divorce, Charlotte and 2 unfortunate partners: Mike and her Mother, Milly, joined up to buy an even bigger boarding stable There you can find her at Goodells Equestrian Center (www.goodellsequestriancenter.com) or for the digitally impaired: www.boardatgec.com, making more "droppings"...
