1st off I wanted to say that I do harness racing, and I have been around horses for about 8 to 9 years now. So in general horses are a escape route for me. Especially Cowboy which is the name of the horse that I race. But I feel as if many know about him and the bond we have for each other. Now I am going to talk about my horse Shadow. I was looking for a pleasure riding horse that was trained under western. My boss that I work for at a race track happened to be looking at add she saw about a horse that was for leasing and then would later be for sale. The horses name is Shadow, he is a gypsy vanner. He is a stallion he will be turning 6 this year when it is May. He may be a stallion or so called "stud" but he is so gentle calm, collected. He has been the first horse that I have ever ridden bare back.
In my free time when I go to the stable When I walk in there he always sticks his head out to see if I am coming in the distance, and then when I go to open the stall door he always walks in circles around me! When I am with him all my worries of the day are in the very back of my mind, and he is the only thing I pay attention to when I am with him for over the next two hours!
While being lunged he will do anything you ask him go in the direction you want him to go. He is fearless, and loves trying new tricks! I love how he lets me have his body and strength and lets me use it as a anger and stress reliever. The one thing I never get tired of his when I see him running his mane and the feathers around his feet they move so freely. I love his markings the base of his body is all black with white patches on the left and right side of his belly with a white patch not to far away from his tail on lower back. The thing we really enjoy is trail rides especially when it is just the two of us. I know that one should never trail ride alone but because I trust Shadow that much I trust that he will provide the safety that the two of us need to enjoy ourselves. When the day is over sometimes if it is really nice out and I don't have to take him in for the night what I like to do is lead him to his paddock and once I release him I like to sit on the fence and w
atch him run off into the sunset and know that tomorrow I can expect him to run up to gate when I call for him,or when he can smell the apples and oats on my hands! I know for sure when he is up for lease I am for sure buying him! After that the only thing I can wish for is that we spend several years together! Horses are a true power for healing!
