Blue Mountain Rider

Blue Mountain Rider

by Mary Benson and Hedy Strauss

Ride with Hedy and Mary as they delve into the endless fascination of the "horse world." Mount up and explore the mountain trails. Go back in time and hop aboard a magic sleigh as it jingles over freshly fallen snow on a country lane. Gallop with the hunt. Step up to a ringside seat, feel the emotions and capture the drama of the exciting world of thoroughbred racing. Experience the joy and often the sadness that life with horses entails. Poems from the "Blue Mountain Rider" encapsulate it all.

Ride on!

I read the book and loved it. I can certainly identify with "Think Twice""Ode to the wild mustangs"is lovely and so relevant considering the BLM's destruction of the wild herds remaining on our public lands. A lovely poem. Thanks for sending the book to me.

About the authors:

Combining their love of horses and the outdoors, both Mary Benson, a physical and health education specialist, and Hedy Strauss, a graduate in animal behavior, immigrated to the Adirondack Mountains in Upstate New York where they met.

They discovered that besides being avid trail riders, they each had a penchant for writing poetry. This resulted in the decision to share poetically their wide range of experience.

Whether it is preserving the wild mustangs heritage or saving horses from slaughter, both women are passionate advocates for animal welfare. Their poetry is harmonious and real - a beautiful collection that will be read and reread.
