HURRICANE is a delightful story that chronicles the life of Hurricane, a retired Irish Thoroughbred race horse. The story follows Hurricane’s five-year racing career, his adventures as a hunter, and his life on Canyon Meadows farm with his four-legged family and his owner Anna. Rich with details of horse racing, Hurricane will capture your child's imagination!

HURRICANE and the other Canyon Meadows stories are chapter books that will keep kids reading for hours, all while learning about animals and life on the farm -- from the animals' point of view.

About the author:

D.L. Rodriguez was born and raised in southern California and graduated from UCLA. After graduating from law school, the author practiced law for several years in northern California. While a lawyer, the author had little time to spend with horses, so when Rodriguez was able to retire, the author took up her passion for horses. About that majestic animal, Rodriguez says: "Horses make great company. They are honest, loving, and very expressive animals. I can look at a horse and know what it is thinking just by its stance and the facial expression. I spend a great deal of time at my little ranch raising, training, and riding my horses. My horses are hunters and jumpers and they appear periodically at horse shows. My other pets, the pygmy goats and cats, also get a great deal of my attention, and they have a lot to say."
