Driving Horses

Cars, trucks and tractors having replaced horses in most industrialized countries. Driving horses, once a necessity of commerce, is now done mainly for pleasure.

Child to aging senior and folks with physical impairments have found driving to be their passion.

Miniature Horse to Draft Horse there is a horse breed for the driving experience you crave.

The diversity of carts, wagons, carriages and sleighs available can seem overwhelming to the novice. Go slow, take you time, read and talk with people. What is your personal goal?

For me it is riding down the dirt county roads around my rural home. I have a United Kingdom Shetland, a docile draft breed pony, quite different in temperament from the American Shetland. I recently received an antique governess cart as a birthday present.
