"Riding a horse is not a gentle hobby, to be picked up and laid down like a game of solitaire. It is a grand passion. It seizes a person whole, and one it has done so, he will have to accept that his life will be radically chaneged."~~~Ralph Waldo Emerson

I would highly recommend books/videos or clinics by Clinton Anderson. I had the pleasure of observing a class taught by him at an Equifest held in Wichita, Kansas a few years ago. The man has extreme talent with horses. He has the concept of positive and negative reinforcement down to a science. The horse he worked with would not load into a trailer. He had it choosing to enter the trailer by itself in a matter of 25 minutes or so and not once did he ask the horse to go in there!!!! I met him in person at the Equifest and he and his wife are genuine horse loving people.
He also doesn't believe in lots of extra tools. His main 'tool' is his halter and leadrope. I purchased them at the Equifest and found them extremely useful as well.
For you ladies out there, it also doesn't hurt that he is easy on the eyes and has that lovely aussie accent!!
