Straight from the Horse’s Heart: A Spiritual Ride through Love,
Loss, and Hope
by R.T. Fitch
The fact is, you can learn a lot from a horse.
Whether or not you are a fan of horses, these horse
vignettes, of which there are thirty in all, celebrate
the very best breeds of human and horse. Through
tales of life, death, and spirituality, these deeply
felt and beautifully wrought tales prove to be a
superb collection of horse-related experiences.
From the poetic symmetry of “I Thought It Was
the Right Thing To Do” to the fierce loyalty of
“She Stole My Heart” and “Whispers in the
Night,” the author does something incredibly
special with language and human’s relationships
with the equine family. He rides at breakneck
speed to the place where each of us wants to learn
about ourselves. He takes his readers to a tender
spot where he has learned to listen to the soft
nickering voice of a horse. A must-read for anyone
who has ever desired to explore his or her inner
self, here is destiny and passion, fortitude and faith.

Reviews:
"...unabashedly sentimental horse vignettes displaying Fitch’s ...commitment to horses."
These stories—some of which the author narrates and some of which are told by his horses—are presented as true experiences he has had with these animals. For many years, Fitch and his wife have been committed to the cause of abused or abandoned horses, several of which they have found families for or brought home to live on their Texas farm. The couple is deeply
involved with Habitat for Horses, an equine -protection organization, and a portion of the book’s sales is earmarked for this charity."
"...the cause is laudable...the stories are...fantastic"
"He emphasizes his understanding of exactly what the animals feel and say...can translate their feelings and yearnings...to tell the world of their plight."
"Several attractive, lively photographs appear among the 30 vignettes"
"A worthwhile cause..."
About the author:
R.T. has always been one to show interest in the psychic inner workings of creatures other than mankind.
In the past he has worked with whales, dolphins, sea lions and even trained penguins. But not until he was first lead into a barn by his lovely bride, Terry, did he ever give much consideration to the stories that horses have to tell. And from that point on, he has been smitten.
R.T. and his wife reside on a small farm outside of Houston Texas where they care for and enjoy their rescued horses, two German Shepherds, and resident deer. As R.T. says, "All of our children have fur, paws, hooves, or claws."
Most of the "four legged" children are characters in R.T.'s "Straight from the
Horse's Heart" with his wife's Brazilian Mangalarga Marchador, Apache, being the principle lead in the
next book by R.T..
