Indie Bookstores
Indie Bookstores. What are they? Indie is a shortened form of independent. So what are independent stores?
They can be the Mom and Pop store that use to dot the landscape. Grocery to retail, toy store to bookstore the stores were locally owned. Each store was unique because of the people who owned and managed it.
Then came the corporate stores and conglomerates. The monolithic giants slowly edged out the indie stores. Homogenization became the standard.
Admittedly when traveling across country with kids, it is nice to know what standard of hamburger you will get when you stop at a chain hamburger joint.
But if you love books and bookstores what is the pleasure in traveling to distant places and entering a store that looks just like the one at home?
If you denounce the corporate bands that threaten our individuality then likely you are an Indie Thinker. Author or consumer you seek the unique. You know that all stores are not the same, that some because of personality, passion and purpose exceed the standards of others.
As indie thinkers we are linked by the passions that differentiate us. We seek others such as ourselves. Such individuals can be found here and
indie bookstores sponsored by The Coaltion for Independent Authors.
Sharon offers free advertisng for indie authors.
