Life’s most important Lessons, I Learned from my Horse.

For as long as I can remember people have been teaching me life's lessons. My first teachers were my parents and older sister. As I grew up I had more instructors. School and Sunday School teachers, Girl Scout leaders, coaches, friends, even riding instructors. Then came bosses, all with wisdom to impart.

The lessons I really learned I learned from my horse.

Clean your room, do your chores. RESPONSIBLITY as a part of life came from people. My horse taught me that stewardship for another’s life takes commitment with no days off!

Don’t take another’s toys, be kind and share came from people. Horses taught me COMPASSION. Those without voices must not only be heard but understood.

You don’t need the newest style or the latest vogue toy came from people. From horses I learned that APPEARANCES don’t matter. What matters is heart.

A penny saved is a penny earned. Be thrifty came from people. A horse taught me the VALUE OF MONEY, that money spent frivolously today meant lack of essentials tomorrow.

Look before you leap came from people. Horses taught me to see and ASSESS MY SURROUNDINGS AND SUBSEQUENT ACTIONS. Be wary of lurking dangers hidden in a peaceful meadow.

Sex only after marriage came from people. Horses taught me that SEX only once can mean a foal. Foals should be planned for well in advance of the act of sex.

Believe in yourself came from people. Horse taught me SELF-ESTEEM. I have the power to comfort a scared thousand pound animal and the strength to control it.

Treat all people equal came from people. A horse taught me not to DISCIMINATE. Age, color or sex do not determine a horse's worth.

Save for a rainy day came from people. A horse taught me to PLAN AHEAD. Working in the hay field in July means full bellies in January.

Horses have taught me important life lessons.

Sharon
