The International League for the Protection of Horses is a real organisation - they are not made up at all. In fact, the ILPH does an amazing job around the world helping horses in need.
Pony Club Secrets is a supporter of the ILPH here in New Zealand. You can help your own local ILPH by getting involved.see their website link on the right for details.
The International League for the Protection of Horses
I have a bay mare Luka. She is the loveliest horse in the world and super at dressage. She has no vices - but she is scared of cows!
Like most horses in New Zealand, Luka lives outside all year round. She shares a paddock with two cute geldings - their names are Toddy (a 12.2 hands high chestnut) and Hokey Pokey (a 14.2 palomino).
I spend all my time riding - when I am not too busy writing the Pony Club Secrets series.
I know I am really lucky to have a horse. When I was a kid I begged my parents for years and years for a pony - and they finally gave in and I got my first horse when I was ten years old. Her name was Bonnie and she had a beautiful white heart on her forehead. My second pony was also a mare - her name was Black Jill and she had a white star on her forehead. Before I started riding Luka, I had a chesnut mare called Maddie - so I have always had girl horses my whole life!
Right now Luka and I are practicising our half-halts and doing lots of cantering. I am finding it quite tricky but Luka seems to know what she is doing.
I have a daughter who is eight years old and she loves to ride too - she has a riding lesson on Toddy once a week and really wants to have a horse of her own.
